S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla (2014) Poster Image Version

In less than one year, since Godzilla's American remake was shown in Japan, a special DVD and Blu-ray box set was recently released that includes lots of bonus features and a special segment celebrating Godzilla's 60th Anniversary. What garnered even more intrigue was the inclusion of an exclusive S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla figure. This limited toy is called Godzilla [2014] Poster Image Version.

Godzilla [2014] Poster Image Version

Like the title suggests, this figure is painted in different shades of red, peach, and pink for the purpose of resembling Godzilla's fiery hues on the movie poster. The only issues with the paint are the hand painted fingers and toes, which looks very heavily coated and quite sloppy.

There are, however, some redeeming qualities this figure possesses that the original toy lacked. Godzilla's eyes are not as goofy looking as the original and his painted teeth has better consistency.

This figure sports the same level of detail as the original Godzilla 2014 toy. All of the skin textures, spines, claws, toes, and facial features still display some great craftsmanship.

Posing this figure was just as fun as the original. The joints and plastic material felt sturdy and flexible at the same time. Overall, collectors, who enjoy a colorful variety of the same Godzilla figure, may like this version. The concept is quite interesting, and Godzilla looked like a pretty good match to Tamashii (red) flame effects.

Where To Buy This Figure?

Getting the entire set (Disks and figure) was quite tricky for consumers in the U.S. because these goods were meant to be solicited to Japanese customers. This slight issue lead overseas customers to deal with third party agents or online Japanese businesses, who will charge more than the original market price.

Today, eBay has these box sets on sale by various sellers. Listings range from offering the whole set, or selling the S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla toy only. Bear in mind though, these items were made in limited numbers, so the stock and reasonable prices will likely not last long.

This set is also available in CD Japan, but under a limited quantity.

  1. Beautiful figure. Love the colouring on him, looks great.

Love the effects you added with the flames. Incidentally, what are they from? They don't come with the figure, do they?

    1. Nice to hear from you again Joesiph!

The red flame effect pieces are from Tamashii Nations and sold separately as a set. They are called Tamashii Effect Burning Flame Red Ver.

    2. Well, the flames work beautifully with the figure. Great choice!

Also, have you heard about the S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla 1964 Appearance Version? Saw some pictures, and it looks great. Excited to see you one day review it.

    5. Godzilla 1954 from NECA is impressive. I don't mind waiting until September because this Summer is filled with SHMA and X-Plus figures that I must have, so NECA's news gives me some room to breathe.

  2. This is without a doubt the worst paint application on any SHMA Figure to date.

  3. Limited to only 8000 makes it worth adding to any ones S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla collection. The price will just keep getting higher so best bet is to buy early. I was lucky enough to get one recently without the Blu-ray or extra dics but now I have all 3 version of the 2014 Godzilla... Very Happy !
