Bandai (USA) King Caesar Review

Bandai USA released wave seven of their 6.5 inch vinyl figures earlier this year. The figure that stood out of all the rest, among collectors, was King Caesar, which was recreated in an entire new mold. Consumers, who missed the first production of King Caesar, are given a chance to own this mold once again in another wave, which comes with a new Godzilla 60th anniversary branded cardboard backing.

Bandai Museum Kameba Figure Review

Kameba was featured in the film, Space Amoeba aka Yog the Space Monster. The premise goes, strange amoebas from outer space arrives on earth, specifically on a remote island somewhere. Any animal that the amoebas possess, turns into a large monster, in this case a large turtle. This figure was distributed through Bandai Museum, but X-Plus was contracted to sculpt this piece.

S.H. MonsterArts Biollante Review

This figure in particular, is perhaps the most highly anticipated release this year because of the overwhelming demand for this toy and Biollante could be the largest SHMA figure so far. To keep the interest high, Fuyuki Shinada (original creator of Biollante’s model featured on the movie) oversaw the project to plan, sculpt, and approve the toy’s final design. The result, was a highly detailed figure with poseability that is fun to tinker with.

S.H. MonsterArts Biollante (Preview)

Kicking off the first week of December, I'm giving a preview of my next figure review. The highly anticipated S.H. MonsterArts Biollante is next on my list, and I'm already in the middle of completing my post. For now, I want to at least give you a glimpse of the packaging and box that Biollante came in, as well as a quick tutorial on Biollante's assembly instructions.

Godzilla Vs Baragon

After reviewing S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 1964, I decided to play with Godzilla's articulation even more. This time, I made him face off against Revoltech's Baragon.

Kaiju Showdown: Godzilla vs Baragon (Preview)

One day, I just got a random idea of having two super articulated monsters square off, captured in various still shots. Since, SHMA Godzilla 1964 is the first Showa entry into this line, I wanted him to battle another articulated monster from that same era. That monster, happens to be Kaiyodo's edition of Baragon.

The post containing all of my photos is still under construction, but I am aiming to publish them very soon. I hope you enjoy them!

Update (11/27/13):   Godzilla vs Baragon photo set has been published. Click the banner below to view them!

X-Plus Toho 30cm Series SpaceGodzilla Figure Review

I honestly do not follow the X-Plus figure line as closely as other collectors. However, I was quickly persuaded to buy this figure the moment I saw the promotional images. SpaceGodzilla is the most recent (Godzilla-related) entry in the X-Plus Toho 30cm line. After taking him out of the box, I quickly realized that although there are mostly positive aspects of this figure, a few deficiencies will have to be taken with a grain of salt.

My Latest Collection Haul From Anime Jungle!

I was in Los Angeles this past weekend to attend Infinite's first US tour in the Nokia Theater. Every time I visit LA, Anime Jungle is always included into one of my destinations.

Random Pics of SHMA Godzilla 1995

I was playing around with some filter options on Photoshop, and thought these results look alright.

Happy Anniversary, Godzilla!

Today, November 3, 2013, marks Godzilla's 59th Anniversary of his on-screen debut.

As a physical metaphor of nuclear weapons, Godzilla quickly became a force of nature that threatened human life. However, over the next couple of years, Godzilla's role switched back and forth between a villian, hero, and an anti-hero. Either way, these movies still entertained their mass audiences, overall.

Whichever era you prefer, pop in your favorite Godzilla movie, kick back, relax, and enjoy!

Varan the Unbelievable (Re-enacted)

Besides collecting toys, another form of this hobby that I revere is toy photography. For those who aren't familiar with toy photography, the idea is to create a photo that makes a toy come to life. I hope to significantly enhance my photography and Photoshop skills one day as I become more familiar with these tools. Well, the first step towards reaching my goal is to just experiment.

Kabaya's Fortress Maximus DX (Final) Review

Before, I have reviewed each base out of the three separately, but now I will review all three bases fully assembled into Fortress Maximus.

Sunday, October 20, 2013

Upcoming Review (10/27/13) Kabaya Fortress Maximus (Fully Assembled)

Kabaya's Fortress Maximus kit was reviewed invidually in three separates bases (Sky Base, Laucher Base, and Commander Base) because these kits were sold individually and they had some neat gimmicks as a standalone. Generally, a consumer has to collect all three boxes to complete a set.

This Sunday (October 27, 2013), I will review Fort Max as a combined set, where I will go over all three transformation modes and accessories.

Mortal Kombat Shao Kahn Figure by Toy Island (Review)

Shao Kahn, the main villain (boss), in Mortal Kombat since MK II, has quickly became a household name to fans and non-fans alike. Almost anyone can immediately recognize that skull-helmet, cape, and loin-cloth wearing emperor.

Takara Transformers Masterpiece MP-13 Soundwave Review

Since the day I began collecting Transformers figures, a G1 Soundwave has always been on my must have list. I couldn't convince myself to buy the original G1 version or any of the reissues because I felt like those figures lacked some sort of appeal. Masterpiece Soundwave is a perfect fit for me, but the problem was the inflated prices of the first run that weren't quite compelling. Luckily, this year (Summer/Fall 2013) Takara issued a second production run of these toys, while Toys R Us exclusively sold Hasbro's Masterpiece version that included Soundwave with all five cassette tapes. These business moves bumped down the price of a Masterpiece Soundwave, a lot more comfortable with my budget.

Upcoming Review (10/13/13) MP-13 Soundwave

My latest order came in recently, Takara Masterpiece MP-13 Soundwave (2nd Run). This is my first Masterpiece figure from Takara, and I gotta say the box art and packaging is spectacular.

A review of this toy shall be published by the end of this Sunday (October 13, 2013).

Beast Hunters Predacons Rising Shockwave Review

I bought and reviewed Beast Hunters Commander Class Shockwave (1st edition) months ago with much praise. Following Shockwave's release, Hasbro announced his re-release as a "Predacons Rising" Target exclusive , and he came with a new paint job. Shockwave is sold alongside Bombshock as a two-pack set. Upon seeing the promo pics, I knew I had to include this figure into my collection as well. Here is the breakdown.

S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 1964 Review

Godzilla 1964 is the fourth web exclusive figure released, but more importantly, the first "Showa" monster from the S.H. MonsterArts line. Therefore, one can understand why a lot of attention and pressure was placed on this figure altogether. After all, the possibility of other figures based on the Showa period being made just may rest on the consumer response on this particular figure. Does Godzilla 1964 meet any general expectations?

SHMA Godzilla 1964 Review Is In The Works!

S.H. MonsterArts' latest web exclusive entry in this toy line, Godzilla 1964, has arrived last week Thursday. A review of this figure is already in production, which should be published by the end of this Sunday!

Kabaya's Fortress Maximus DX Sky Base + Power Glide Quick Review

The third base included in Box #3 is the Sky Base, which comes with Power Glider. Once again, I will just quickly go over what the third base is about and the gimmick it features as a standalone piece.

Sky Base + Powerglide (Kabaya DX Fortress Maximus Box #3)

On today's edition of Lets Build A Model! I will build the final base needed to complete Kabaya's Fortress Maximus model. The first two bases were equally exciting to witness in completion, and this one was no exception. Here's a quick rundown of my process.

Kabaya's Fortress Maximus DX Launcher Base + Fortress Quick Review

Just like I've done with Fortress Maximus DX Box #1, I'll do a quick review of the FM's Launcher Base and Fortress (Cerebros) that has been sold separately in Box #2.

Launcher Base + Fortress (Kabaya DX Fortress Maximus Box #2)

On today's edition of Let's Build A Model, I will build the second piece (Box #2) of Kabaya's DX Fortress Maximus model kit. This set is named, "Laucher Base + Fortress (Cerebros)." Now then, onto the build!

Transformers Generations Deluxe Orion Pax Review

Honestly, Orion Pax was not a toy I would consider buying because the thought of owning a Pre-Optimus Prime figure didn't seem appealing. That is until I saw the figure in person in my local K-Mart store. Well, I ended up buying him and now we get to see how Orion Pax fares in among his other companions and enemies released in this wave.

Marmit Gorosaurus Pre-Painted Build Up Model Review

After reviewing Marmit's Anguirus 1968 model, I became an immediate fan of their built-up model kits. No matter how long or short I'd have to wait, Gorosaurus was the next monster on my wanted list. Well, life is full of surprises, because the opportunity to own this fabulous peace knocked on my door earlier than expected.

Kabaya's Fortress Maximus DX Commander Base + Charger Quick Review

Commander Base and Charger are one out of three separate kits that are needed to complete Fortress Maximus. As mentioned in the latest edition of Let's Build A Model, this part took me over an hour to complete, mostly due to my meticulous side spending a lot of time trying to trim some leftover sprues and applying stickers almost perfectly. I'm certain other modelers finished theirs in under an hour, but that's okay. Overall, I am satisfied with what I have accomplished, and now I'll just quickly explain what the first piece to Fortress Maximus looks like.

Commander Base + Charger (Kabaya DX Fortress Maximus Box #1)

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to visit this exciting edition of Let's Build A Model! Today, I'll build Box (1/3) of Kabaya's DX Fortress Maximus model kit/candy toy. The first box contains parts for FM's Commander Base and Charger.

FOC Voyager Grimlock Review

For the next couple of weeks, I will sort of go with a dinosaur theme with my figure reviews, starting with Grimlock. Fall Of Cybertron Grimlock was released in 2012, and has been a figure I anticipated amongst other Voyager class toys from the FOC Line. However, as far as classic toys goes, this particular version really tests how much a fan truly loves Grimlock.

Charapro Great Nita Figure Review Part 2

A while ago, I wrote a brief article about the Great Nita DX blister pack from my collection. To this day, I still can't get myself to open the contents, but as luck would have it another Great Nita figure was listed for sell on eBay that is loose and comes with all of his accessories minus the barbed wire. Although a vital accessory was missing, an extra chair, ring bell, and hammer was included in this bundle deal. I managed to snag this great set for a good price, and now I have the pleasure to review both Great Nita and most of his official accessories.

X-Plus (USA) Godzilla 1964 (Mothra Vs Godzilla) Figure Review

Continuing the hype of S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla '64 to be released in July (August in America), I will review another Godzilla 1964 figure that was made by X-Plus (USA). X-Plus (Japan) are well known for their highly detailed kaiju figures with an accurate paint job. Let's see how their American branch did.

Iwakura Ganime Figure Review

Ganime is one out of three monsters that starred in Toho's kaiju movie, Space Amoeba. Ganime was created when a space amoeba crash landed on earth then possessed a stone crab after Gezora's attack was thwarted, forming the creature you see here. Ganime was one out 13 other figures to be randomly sold through Iwakura/Orion's Godzilla Ver. 3:  Godzilla's Son Collection series. All figures were packaged in the same (blind) box art.

Kaiyodo Revoltech Baragon Review

The time has finally come, my very first Kaiju from Kaiyodo's Sci-Fi Revoltech line! Baragon was up there in my list of monsters I'd love to own from this line. Thanks to my good friend WimpLo, all of this was possible!

SDCC (2013) Exclusive Bludgeon Review

In an amazing move, Hasbro has included Bludgeon into this year's (2013) SDCC exclusive "Transformers vs G.I. Joe" toy line. Naturally, Bludgeon raised a lot of attention and demand, as evidenced by how much they are going for on eBay. Without any further a do, let's jump into the review!

Kaiyodo Revoltech Type 66 Maser Cannon Review

To be honest, I've been on the fence on this one for a while now. While I unanimously dislike any threat against Godzilla since I was a kid, this toy did look really cool. The price though was always the main reason for me to not pull the trigger, till now. I was able to purchase this toy for a great deal and am looking forward to seeing everything out of the box.

This past week has definitely been a string of good luck! Two additional figures have been added to my collection.

Kid Robot X Street Fighter Ryu Mini Figure Review

As recapped in my toy hunting experience in Las Vegas, Ryu was bought in a Kid Robot store on the second floor of the Cosmopoliton hotel and casino. I was reluctant to buy myself a blind box out of fear that I may get a character that I like the least. However, the box art and mystery was too tempting to pass up, so here are my results.

Going Toy Shopping In Las Vegas!

While vacationing in Las Vegas, I was determined to go toy hunting in as many stores as possible within my allotted time. My hopes were to find some rare Kaiju or Transformers figures for reasonable prices, and although I wasn't able to find that precious gem, the trips to these three different stores were still fun nonetheless.

This is my toy trip round up!

Transformers ROTF Deluxe Soundwave Review

Soundwave, believe it or not, is my favorite character from the G1 series, and of all time. Yet, I find it ironic that I have yet to own my first G1 figure of him and the reason why I haven't made my decision for so long, is because I'm seeking a toy that is spot on to Soundwave's G1 appearance. The Masterpiece Soundwave, immediately fits the bill, and I'm determined to purchase either the Takara or Toys R Us exclusive version online. In the mean time, I did come across some cool pics of the ROTF figure, so my hunt was on to get Soundwave still sealed and for a good price. I did good, so now all that is left is to review this figure!

TFsource Holiday Exclusive KM-03X Mirrorverse Cyclops Review

Mastermind Creations is one of the fastest growing third party companies to deliver outstanding transforming toys. Following the successful release of KM-03 Cyclops, TFsource made an exclusive deal with Mastermind Creations to offer a limited edition of Cyclops' mini-sub code named, "KM-03X Mirrorverse Cyclops." Cyclops is based on Shockwave, and these machines are themed around technology in the late 1800s.

Transformers Beast Hunters: Cyberverse Commander Shockwave

Transformers Beast Hunters Voyager class Shockwave left me liking this representation of a toy, even though the tank mode made me feel a bit unsatisfied. Because I like the robot mode so much, and the Commander class figures are really fun to collect, Cyberverse Shockwave seems like a good buy. However, there are some issues with this toy, that left me wondering what was Takara/Hasbro thinking during the making of this product?

Transformers Generations Legends Class Optimus Prime & Roller Review

At this moment, I am totally stricken with some kind of "Commander Class" fever. Despite being smaller than Deluxe Class figures, they certainly have a some kind of charm that appeases both kinds and adults, depending which adult collectors you ask. Today, I will review another Optimus Prime toy that, although is technically Legends Class size, is scaled closer to the Commander Class size. Going into the 30th anniversary of Transformers, Hasbro released a set of toys that boasts a substantial amount of detail and articulation in a size class that is smaller than Deluxe scaled toys. This set includes Autobot leader Optimus Prime and his smaller companion Roller.

Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Cyberverse Commander Class Optimus Prime Review

Hello ravers! Today, I want to do a really quick review of a purchase I made from a local Walmart store: Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Cyberverse Commander Class Optimus Prime. Optimus Prime was released in Series 3:  001.
