Kpop Thoughts: "Lovey Dovey" by T-ara

Boys and girls have no fear, for WimpLo is here! Miss me everyone? Well, I missed you! Back from my Japan trip and on to blogging!

One of the best things that happened during my hiatus is T-ara's newest single "Lovey Dovey" which was released in their "Funky Town" album in January. After the retro style they used in "Roly Poly" and the melancholy mood of "Cry Cry", the talented girls of T-ara brought the action of a night club's dance floor to their stage with "Lovey Dovey". On top of that, they made full use of the popular "shuffle dance" and included that in their dance routine. This resulted in a fun and catchy song that fans of K-pop can fully enjoy.

Another great thing about this song is that it came with THREE music videos! The first one is the long version that continues the story from "Cry Cry", starring Qri as the main character, who is an older version of Jiyeon's character from the previous music video. This video also included the track "We Were In Love" by T-ara & Davichi
The second video is "Lovey Dovey: Zombie Version" where the dance floor that T-ara is performing is overrun by the infected audience. The girls continue the dance until they become zombies themselves and STILL continue the dance ("Thriller" style)!
Lastly the third video is "Lovey Dovey in Tokyo" where basicly in this music video is just footages the girls have taken during their Japan promotions and the fun they had while in their neighbor country.

T-ara had much success with this track during the past couple months, winning the coveted Triple Crown award (topping Music Bank, Inkigayo, and M! Countdown) and on top of that, placing first in Music Bank's K-chart 4 times! A feat the ladies did not accomplish since "Bo Beep Bo Beep" in 2010, and even then they only topped the K-chart 2 times.

Personally, I really enjoy this song and it has quickly became one of my favorite K-pop songs of all time. Both the song and the dance is very catchy and their live performances are enjoyable as ever. I'm glad they are giving more camera time to Qri and Boram, both of whom I felt were a little neglected in past performances. I continue to wish T-ara much more success in 2012 and beyond. Until next time, LOVEY LOVEY DOVEY OH OH OH OH!

  1. Fantastic post WimpLo! To me, T-ara's "Lovey Dovey" is so catchy, I feel like I'm in the middle of a clothing brand CF. It's great to see more of Boram and she looks cute when she's shuffling and moon walking. I didn't realize that there were so many music videos to follow.
