S.H. MonsterArts has released their third installment of the same figure. Godzilla (2014) gets reissued once again, except with another new theme this time. This version depicts Godzilla during the moment he used the atomic breath attack.
Godzilla 2014 Spit Fire Version
There’s not much to describe about Godzilla’s crafted look because the figure has the same sculpted designs as the other two Godzilla variations that debuted prior to this one. What is different though, are the new sets of colors chosen for this figure.
Godzilla's skin is dark grey with some brown highlights on his chest, arms, thighs, and tail. Godzilla also has white teeth, red tongue, and red gums. Unfortunately, this figure still has the goofy eyes painted on. The translucent fins are blue with some light metallic silver. When shined under a light, they look gorgeous.
What feels like a major improvement is Godzilla’s articulation. The ball joints are much easier to move around and they are snug enough to retain Godzilla’s poses, especially around the tail region.
Accessories
What add some interest to this set are Godzilla’s accessories. What is probably receiving the most attention is the head of the female M.U.T.O. held in Godzilla’s right hand. The head and hand are one piece of plastic, and to get this accessory on requires the user to detach and reattach Godzilla’s right hands. Fortunately, popping the hands off is easy and when they are on the ball joints are still snug.
Godzilla also has a new atomic breath effect that has been especially made for this variant. This new beam is translucent blue with blue and silver paint applications. The breath effect also comes with an adjustable support and a new support base that has Godzilla’s name written in red and styled similar to the one seen on the movie poster.

Conclusion
Although this figure is the second reissue of the original version, there are some redeeming qualities that justifies buying this set. The biggest peeve is the eyes are still off, and this issue could’ve been addressed after the first version of Godzilla. However, the articulation and snugness of Godzilla’s joints are easy to handle. Godzilla’s skin tone and added painted details are well received and although the translucent fins weren’t initially accepted, they eventually were. The accessories are fun to use and would work great in integrating different ideas in dioramas or changing Godzilla’s pose while on display. Overall, the figure is a pretty good entry for this line.

Ah, that's a shame with the head-hand, but the figure itself is pretty cool. FINALLY, LegendGoji gets his atomic breath accessory.
ReplyDeleteJoesiph, how have you been buddy?! I honestly wasn’t expecting the head-hand piece to look like that, especially the glossy coat of paint. The atomic breath effect is cool and the articulation is much better on this one. Out of the three, which do you think is the best?
DeleteWhile I really like this one, and the first one is absolutely stellar, I'm actually pretty partial to the Poster Image Version, surprisingly. Its colour really stands out and gets my attention, and it just looks good.
DeleteGood choice! Add some red Tamashii flames effect with that figure and the whole presentation would seem complete.
